CLASSES FOR CHILDREN
Movement for Pre-Schoolers
(for students 3 turning 4 years)
Movement to music incorporating ballet and jazz moves using our imaginations
and having fun with props
Ballet Classes for Children
from 5 years
Teaching children ballet through the Cecchetti syllabus well known around
the world for developing well rounded dancers.
Prepares children for exams (optional). Develops co-ordination, poise, confidence,
rhythmical sense and musicality while ensuring the process is still fun.
Jazz Classes for Children
from 5 years
Teaching children jazz through the Jazz Dance NZ syllabus. Prepares children for
exams (optional). Develops posture, muscle tone, listening skills, rhythm and enjoyment
of jazz dance.
CLASSES FOR ADULTS
Adult Beginners Ballet or Jazz
For those adults who have always wanted to learn ballet or jazz or have learnt some
dance as a child. Excellent exercise in a fun way.
Adult Open Ballet
For adults who have had training in classical ballet to a senior level and want to continue for
exercise and enjoyment.
This class is taken by Emma Holloway who has danced in Sydney studying Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Caberet, Soft Shoe, Rock'n'Roll and Singing. Emma has also worked at Janfusun Fancy World, Window on China and Leofoo Village through Art Orient Entertainment and she recently danced in the Otago Daily Times Big Night In. This class is available to students aged 11 years and above. In the class you will be learning genres relating to musical theatre.
This class will be taken by renowned dancer and choreographer, Kilda Northcott (founding member of Limbs). For students aged from 11 years upwards.
JUNIOR BALLET EXTENSION
This class is for junior students who would like to go further in their dance career and to learn more about the art of ballet. The class will be open to those students who have just sat their Primary ballet exam through to students who have just sat their Grade 2 ballet exam. In the class the students will be working further on technique, artistry, flexibility, strengthening exercises and repertoire.
RUSSIAN CHARACTER DANCE
Character dance utilises classical ballet technique and vocabulary, extending the studentís range of movement, stylistic, dynamic and musical experience and building a greater diversity of skill and versatility. This class is for students aged 11 years and upwards and you donít have to have had classical ballet training as a prerequisite.
Students will learn the foundations of tap dancing including beats, rhythm, steps and sequences. Tap is great for improving musicality and understanding of counts, balance, presentation and extends the studentís repertoire of dance styles. In this class students will work on exercises and will be able sit medal tests.
